Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that all instant coffees seem to taste watered down and lacking the authentic coffee taste. Sometimes I am not in the mood to use the French Press of filter machine and just want a simple and fast option. Thus, I did a Google search to ascertain which coffee was rated best and a survey rated Douw Egberts No.1 and Jacobs Kronung No.2. I duly bought first one then the other and both were tasteless. I have never been a fan of Nescafe but, I then tried it again and it is just bitter by comparison and still lacking any real coffee flavour. Back in the 1970s, 80s and 90s we always had Frisco, Ricoffy, Koffiehuis and Encore on hand and all of them tasted very decent and acceptable. Now I can't find a single decent instant coffee and I have also tried the Antigua brand as well as Tchibo which is a brand from Germany. Yesterday I bought a box of the Necafe Cappuccino sachets and that has also changed from the way it tasted a few months ago. Not only have they changed the packaging which serves no purpose but, it is now tasteless too.
