Insuring couriered goods?

I've now had two items arrive at purchasers with some degree of damage and signs of mishandling...can anyone advise regarding insuring and if it is viable on cheaper items etc?Both items were sent via Timefreight...this really pee's me off.Alternative courier maybe?Anyone else suffered this fate?Thanks Andre.
