Reading some of the threads recently (especially the age old vynil vs digital one, which was locked by mods....) I somehow got an impression that some of us can listen to something positively/optimisticly and some of us negatively/pesimisticly.
The thinking struck me when I read how one member described that he did not like the pops and crackles on the vynil... now the way I see it(hope I can explain nicely here) is that I listen to the tonal qualities , the notes , the lyrics, the music and how it interacts etc... and quite often do not even hear the crackles and pops even with some not so good LP's.
Is it that some can listen and focus in on a specific/some specific attributes and just ignore the rest....
It is clear to me that in this example the member was so focused on any little pop and crackle that he perhaps now forgot to enjoy the music at all.
I can often find that even a distorting system can show me some potential by listening to the way in which it plays the majority of the music and notes...
The thing is that I think if one worries about the stage and the pops and the crackles and the low and the high and the many other things audiophiles lead us to believe that by the time you get to the music , the song is over and the moment is lost... interpret that as perhaps the notes and tones and music is gone and far too "dead" even ?
Whats your opinion... ?
