Ah, Boys & Girls

I got this infernal B&O 4002 to play for the last hour. Now the long road to rehab starts. There's 75 pages of service manual to go through. Apart from all the work to get the thing to actually squawk, there's still lots to be done electronically - new capacitors, clean all multipin connectors, set up and calibrate the arm but the main two things which gave me serious kopseer was the phono board and the burnt out motor - at least this runs to speed.

The arm also needs adjustment as it doesn't run parallel to the detecting arm - probably the main cause of not sounding lekker at the moment.

Inbetween winding motor coils and finding solutions for the burned varistors, I also fitted an IEC socket and some real fancy phono jacks as I have a serious dislike of trailing wires.

Anyway, the way it sounded tonight while still recovering from its 20 year sleep, I think I can make a real nice music box from this danish box of springs, levers, solenoids, trip switches and mysterious IC's.
