Has anyone installed this new Kwikot Econocoil element and seen any savings in the electicity ?
I want to get one, except that a std 4KW element is R270 and this is R1500 for a 3kW so the ROI is going to be 12 months at minimum.

Econocoil Kwikot Geyser Element

Econo-coil is a patented design variation in the actual geyser element, the new design was created in such a way to take advantage of the internal thermal physics of all geysers: The econo-coil system heats the water inside the geyser to a more consistent temperature by promoting convection, which distributes the heat more efficiently. Less heat is therefore lost to the environment. The thermostat causes the element to switch on far less frequently, resulting in a saving of electricity consumed. It's a pity it took 100 years before someone realized a redesign was needed but fortunately the savings are now available.
Econo-coil is a revolutionary new product. The first element released is designed to work specifically with a horizontal Kwikot geyser. Utilising a combination of unique design features this element provides more usable hot water for 25-45% less energy. Installation is as simple as a standard element replacement and can be done by any plumber. A family of four can easily save R200 per month or more. The amount saved depends on the amount of water used and when it is used.

Product Description
Geysers with conventional elements are fitted in the centre, as illustrated (above), which stratifies the water into three distinctive temperature bands. A thermocline (temperature variation) with a temperature differential of 50 degrees is normal. This is inefficient as the hotter water cools more rapidly through the higher than normal heat loss. This heat loss triggers the thermostat, which then trips the element to switch on in an attempt to heat the water and recover the energy lost by this process. It?s actually fairly silly to think that over 100 years of design went into geysers and geyser elements and no one picked up this basic physical phenomena. Yet it?s the basic method of operation that is costing you a small fortune every month.
