I have just bought a lg arx8000 home theatre system, and I struggled to set it up so that the sound from the tv came through the home theatre speakers. I eventually got it right. In my efforts to connect the system correctly to my TV I occasionally pressed the SETUP and INFO DISPLAY buttons on the remote control that comes with the system and it opened up the various 'settings' in a window on my TV screen. I decided to try again and connected the home theatre system up to the TV and the TV sound came out of the speakers - great. Then I tried to press the SETUP button on the remote control, the display on the AMP of the home theatre system says SETUP but no setup is opened on my TV screen, when I press the INFO DISPLAY button nothing happens. My first concern was that the remote batteries were empty (although it was only the 2nd of using them) - that was not the case as other buttons on the remote control do what they are supposed to. I sent a message to lg customer support and they were of no help, they simply asked me to take the remote control and the unit to a lg service centre. I stay about 200kms from the nearest service centre so this is not really an option for me. The SETUP button was working and now it is not - can anyone help because it is probably something simple like an insignificant childlock setting(s) that I may have inadvertently invoked.
