Why is the Linn LP12 considered a "great"?

Except for the upgrade possibilities, will it out perform e.g. my current ProJect Debut III?

I can get a LP12 with Akito Arm and Ortofon MC3 Cart.

Will I gain anything by replacing my ProJect with the above unit?
