I bought some of these during the previous bout of load shedding. Apparently a good brand and they claim on the packaging they are even charging when the globe is not switched on. For other brands they seem to only charge whenever the light is switched on.
They work as I expected, I can now go to the bathroom without a flashlight ;D Really a nice to have.
But there is a problem with these lights. They do not last the full 2.5 hours. They last about 1.5 hours.
Also, they charge extremely slow. Last night power went off and this morning as well. This morning the light only lasted something like 18 minutes. That despite charging the whole night.
Do any of you have experience with a specific brand or model that can actually last 3 hours+?
