My name is Willem and I stay in Cape Town. I had a very nice hifi back in the early nineties when I started working:
I had a friend who worked at Digital Sound in tygervalley who gave me some excellent prices on these:
Amp: Rotel RA960
CDP: Marantz CD62
Speaker: B&W 601
Nice Speaker cable & interconnects(Something Ruby).
I sold the system in 1996 when i left for the USA.
Well, I am looking to buy a system again and would like some advice.
I would like to buy a decent stereo setup with cd player and maybe later a turntable & tuner. I don't want to spend more than R10000
and would like to buy used equipment. On my wishlist are:
Amps: Rotel RA960, RA980 or RB980 & RC980
Speakers: I pretty much like B&W. Maybe 601,602,603,604.
CDP: any idea might help. I would love a DAC & Transport combination, but would rather spend money on the speakers & pre/power amp
If anyone can give me prices that I should pay for these secondhand it will help alot.
I have seem the folowing 4sale in CT: Rotel RC980BX - R2000
B&W 602 S3 - R2600
B&W 602 & some B&W center speaker - R6000 (I think this one is over priced and I don;t want a center speaker)
On a website for a KZN audio dealer: b&w 602 S2 - R2500 and B&W 603 S3 - R4500
