Hi guys
As a long time lurker I thought it best to introduce myself while asking for some advice.
Just a quick brief :
I had my first introduction to proper hi fi sound in the late 90's. Started off with a Yamaha A5, Kef Cresta 30's(front), 10's(surround) Cresta C and Yamaha YST 120 for the low end.
I later changed to Celestion F30, F15, and center. I did not like the "harsh" sound of the titanium tweeters, so I swapped them for the most affordable speakers at that stage with silk dome tweeters. Th Polk monitor 40's, 20's and CSI3. Low end was taken care of by a Polk PSW12.
I am in the position to do another small upgrade/adjustment, and I'm considering a package deal from Sounds Great consisting of the following :
Polk TSI400, TSI100, CS10 for about R7600.
Another option is to go for the TSI500, and keep my existing surround & center speakers. Problem is I can not find a dealer that will sell the TSI500's separately, for a good price.
Also thinking about upgrading my receiver, to future proof a bit. Have a PS3, Mede8er and video camera with HDMI outputs that I would like to link up with the amp. I'm considering the Yamaha RX-V571/573. But would not mind a opportunity to explore Denon, Onkyo, Harman Kardon etc.
Budget for speakers is about R8000, and the same for a new amp receiver.
Any suggestions/advice/combinations will be appreciated, as well as locations for auditions in the East rand area.
I listen to a wide range of music. From classic (1812 Overture Telarc version with real cannons being my favorite), to pop, heavy metal etc. Sometimes at high volumes. They might be small and entry level but the Polks has never let me down before on any of these before, so I'm looking forward to any suggested upgrade.
Thanks
