Mac Mini not utilizing AV receiver as output device..

Hi Guys
so i have my mac mini (2104) model plugged into a Yamaha Rxv677 receiver with an HDMI cable, and my tv connected to my av receiver with an hdmi cable also.
in the mac o/s it uses the tv as output device,and not the receiver..
strange thing is that ARC is turned off within the receiver, and tv.
Any ideas as to how to fix this, even google doesn't know  :faint:, hoping someone here has an idea
