I have an opportunity to maybe change my unit from an Onkyo TX NR 818 to a Marantz AV 7001. My current equipment is as follows:
Onkyo TX NR 818 powering rear speakers - B&W 685
B&W CM 9 S1 powered by Rotel RB 1080
B&W PM1 as a center speaker powered by Emotiva UPA 2
2 x B&W ASW 610 subwoofers
Optoma HD 33
96" Grandview Screen
Movies 60% - Music 40%
If I go with the Marantz AV 7001 I will then power my rears with a Rotel RB 870. The question is whether I will have a significant improvement in sound by using the Marantz AV unit. Secondly the Marantz has Audyssey MultEQXT but not Audyssey MultEQ XT32 like the Onkyo, will this be a major disadvantage.
