Hi fellow nerds,

Previously I had my media PC custom built into my own TV cabinet I made (pic below). I have (about a year ago) moved house and sold off the custom cabinet, so my media PC was loosely bundled with all cables, wires and dust into a cupboard with some crudely cut holes in it.

(note, pics are from 2009 - significant upgrades have happened since then!)

From last night:

Getting assembled on the "plankie" on the dining room table. P.S. Instead of cutting the plankie on my balcony and having dust everywhere, I just did it in the shower so I easy sprayed off the dust with water instead of getting a vacuum etc. I'm so lazy :p

Top view, fan controller on the left with it's cables hidden below the board

The cupboard, with the rails fitted ready to slide the pc in and then connect up everything

PC, all in and hooked up. Turned on.

Cupboard closed

Hidden out of sight

And the cupboard open

So, I have the PC on rails so it's easy to slide out and tinker , plug stuff in etc. For cooling I have the top fan extracting warm air. I have holes at the bottom so air constantly gets sucked up from under the PSU / HDD / CD drives and pulled over the PC. I have never had any heat issues.

P.S. Yes I know the holes are crudely cut, but I did it ages ago and had to do it in a rush on the fly without measuring.... regardless, it works.

Also, I have some new goodies on order so I will update my specs as soon as its all done.
