Hi Forum Members,
I recently had the enormous pleasure of listening to GECO's system at his home. Having listened to his system (which is utterly out of my reach) I have decided I would like to investigate the world of DACs. The question now is: how do I proceed from having a receiver with power amp to a system that allows stereo listening with a DAC.
Is it possible to run a DAC with the receiver acting as a pre-amp or is this defeating the purpose of the DAC?
I would also greatly appreciate if members can give their experience and/or recommendations for well-regarded components that will give good value. Without wanting to limit advice too much I would say an upper bound would be between R20k to R40k. I do not consider myself an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I do know I really like what I heard: the sound was clean, well defined, detailed and with good punch when required. If possible I would like to get at least close to what I heard.
FWIW: Currently I have a NADT777 paired with a NAD C275BEE and a set of KEF floorstanders.
