I just enrolled here and would like to share what happened on my side after the wonderful Saturday at Francois (thanks boet!). I went "mad" and purchased blind / on reviews - the Synergistic Research XOT crossover transducers, since i was so impressed with the SR active USB cable - it was like no brainer. Everything, absolutely everything exceeded my expectations ! I paid them on Tue, they arrived promptly on Thu ..
After few hours of "listening to them" i was scared to disconnect them, but i did - i was in for a shock - the magic left the room, and all shrank into 2 dimensions, flat and unresolving. Please have a look at what i listen to here - what i've been rather happy with .. Let me put in order of presence - the most important changes these little cans brought here :
1. 3d, "in-the-room" soundstage, enveloping you
2. Air ! Between instruments - they are better spaced out now, but generally everywhere, without any sense of thinness - system is just breathing freely now
3. So much detail unearthed in every frequency, which also came with some texture improvements, especially in the mid-upper range
4. Without them - there is this sense of muddiness / thick veil in front and the Tannoys which sound recessed .. With them - you on stage
5. No loss of the warmth, on the opposite - gear sounds valve-warm now, which i like / prefer
It is as if i have upgraded the speakers and the power to something 10 times, yes - 10 times the price ! Is there anyone there who's gone for these too as of recent ??
Would love to hear your comments, and one day (soon) even demonstrate this ..
