My Mission MX5 speakers help

Hi all,

I have no experience in "decent" HT.
I have what I consider entry level kit. A Denon AVR-X1200W receiver and recently bought these Mission MX5 speakers from @Craigis here on the forums: http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,60641.0.html

I came from a pair of Sony SS-F5000 pair of floor standing speakers.

Doing my research on the Mission MX5's, I read that if you like bass, you'll love the MX5's as they pack a lot of it This made me happy.
When I hooked them up, I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Mid and high frequency comes through strong, but not much bass in my opinion. Now, this is where I am simply not sure if my lack of "experience" is playing tricks on me or the speakers really are not delivering as promised.

How can I best determine which one it is? Is my amp not powerful enough? Am I expecting too much from the speakers? Obviously, it's difficult to explain online when talking about a "sound" and I might not be able to find the answer without someone actually listening to the speakers themselves.

I may hook up the Sony's again this weekend, to test and focus on the bass and try and compare for myself, I'm not sure if this will help.

Any advice/thoughts please?
