Had the rare opportunity to spend some time yesterday afternoon at Thirteen Hof with Achim Spelling listening to the Unison Research Max two-way floorstanding speakers paired with their hand made valve amplifiers, what a beautiful combo, as pleasing to the eye as it is to the ear! Those little valve amps really caught me off guard, and reaffirm that dynamite does indeed come in small packages.
We ended off indulging in the Avantgarde Trio Classico's driven by a pair of monster valves amps, what an absolute treat and boy can they kick butt, I now understand and can appreciate what the HORN fuss is all about and if I didn't have to catch a flight back to the republic Achim would have had throw me out.
I can only describe my experience as an audio/visual sensory overload, from the audio equipment to the music to the numerous artworks in all their forms. I felt like a homeless person in an all you can eat buffet.
