Need help for best playback of downloaded movies

Hi Guys

I need some advice. I have recently started downloading some movies. Much cheaper and newer than the local dvd store.

So currently I play the downloaded files on VLC on my 2007  Macbook Pro. I use the DVI output into a HDMI adaptor into the processor for video and a normal mini jack HP output from the Mac into the analogue input of the processor.

This works ok, but is taking my laptop out of normal service. Also the audio is not great.

I used to pop a stick with the movie on into my Marantz UD7007 and that worked well, but that is sold now.

What would work better. Media server like a Mede8 or the like..??

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a Anthem MRX 300 jobbie.
