Howzit EveryOne!
I'm new here and hope I'm posting at the right place!?
There's a personal project that I would like to start As Soon As Possible. . I'm a dj and I'm looking for someone who will be able to help me build a custom "old skool" rotary dj mixer.
I have no experience on electronics, but I've done a lot of research on the subject on the net and have found one particular website (http://www.bozure.com) that has all the information on how to go about the build. .
The first thing I would like to find out from you are the "legalities" of going about a build like this here in South Africa (if any). . According to the website, the information contained therein can be used as long as it is used for personal use. .
The general idea is to build a custom rotary dj mixer that uses the same components as per the website with some changes to suite my needs. . I'm not sure how to attach images as SAMPLES to show the final product as I would want it, (So please advise). . These would be just SAMPLES that will be "modified" later to suite.
I would source the materials and more information myself (with your expertise) and help out where I can and hopefully we can get to a point where we can establish a price that will suite us both to build this project from the ground up.
These would be the general technical specifications of the mixer when built:
2 (maybe 4) channel stereo mixer / Integrated crossover isolator / Bandwidth ? 1db : 20 ? 30 000 Hz / ?? stereo headphone output / 3 band rotary EQ control / RCA and XLR balanced ? output level (XLR) / 2 line & 2 phono RCA inputs / Fibre optic LED Clip, Power & Cue indicator / External power supply / Military toggle switches / Walnut side panels / 240/120 V.60hz / Lightweight & portable.
PHONO STAGE: (studio master) impedance 56K ohms 60db.
LINE IN: 100k ohms 0db booth variable ∞ off 15db.
ISOLATOR LOW (160Hz) MID(160Hz ? 4K) HIGH(4K ? UP).
RESPONSE 20Hz ? 30K +o- 3db.
Linear phase parallel constant Q equalizer system (ASTC).
Do you have a clue on what a project like this could cost, would it be better (easier) to source the materials here in S.A. or overseas (do you have experience in doing this?)? I don't mind using cheaper components where ever possible to keep the final price down with exception to where it is vital to use more expensive components! I'm gonna be financing the project myself, So we would need make some kind of agreements in terms of payments to you, time constraints, etc! So I don't mind it if it would be your weekend, part time project should you be interested to take it on.
I would greatly appreciate it if you can get back to me on this as soon as possible and hopefully with the interest on helping me out!
Please let me know if there is any more information you would like me to provide you with at ANY time! I can provide contact details should the need arise!
Regards
