Good afternoon all,
I hope you are doing well.
Before I continue let me advise my current Sound setup at home:
AV = Marantz SR7300
2 x B&W DM603 S3 Speakers - Floor Standing speakers - 2.5way vented-box system, 150 Watts @ 8 ohms.
1 x B&W LCR60 S3 center speaker - 2.5way vented-box system - 120 Watts @ 8ohms
1 x B&W ASW600 Sub-woofer - Active closed-box system - 150W continuous
Steaming Box = Nvidia Shield TV
I'm very happy with the audio I get from this setup, but the A/V doesn't support any HDMI inputs, which means I cannot for example enjoy any Dolby or any other digital outputs. Currently I use a HDMI from the Nvidia shield to my Samsung Plasma TV, which in turn outputs via optical out to the Marantz. Basic Audio Passthrough.
I would like to see if I can change this. In my limited knowledge I started to look for a replacement for the Marantz 7300. Budget is a problem so I have been looking at the second hand market to get the best bang for buck
Problem I have:
1. Not sure what type of system can drive my current speaker setup without dropping out
2. Seems that some manufactures advertise their wattage per channel not truthfully, if audioholics are to believed in some of their videos.
3. My knowledge is very limited and I'm scared I go the wrong way.
So, I would like to find out if you guys have some tips for me what to look out for as minimum.
Seen an add for Marantz SR7011 for R17K (outside my budget anyways), but I have no idea if this will be a good deal or not. Seen some Denon deals on here as well, which I'm not sure if it will work for my setup.
Thnx in advance for your comments.
I hope you are doing well.
