Yesterday I got an opportunity to get my hands on a Velodyne DD15 subwoofer. Everything happened unexpectedly but smoothly and I replaced the B&W DB1 with this Velodyne. The DB1 will be sorely missed for its low end performance and the technology it has including connecting it to 2 different sources (AV and stereo) and have them come on automatically independently through the use of triggers.
I must say the Velodyne DD15 is a monster. When I got home I connected it and played it without doing any adjustments and it almost threw me 3 blocks away. I proceeded to do onboard eq to tame it followed by eqing the whole system again using the processors Audyssey eq.
I?m now running 2x 15 inch subwoofers (B&W 850 and Velodyne DD15) and I must say that the bass is amazing. The Velodyne goes much lower than the B&W DB1 did. It is that kind of bass that gives you that spine tingling feeling and goose bumps which I?m not sure whether one hears it or feel it. Both of he ASW855 and Velodyne subwoofers put together are amazing. Best upgrade ever.
