The Tripath based amplifier that my son used in his room stopped working and that gave me a good excuse to build a power amp. In searching on the www I came across the LJM L12-2 kit on eBay for a good price. I had a suitable 35-0-35 transformer and managed to get a chassis from [member=760]ghostinthemachine[/member] .
Built the boards over the weekend and assembled the amp, but it would not start up as it kept blowing fuses. Turned out that I wired the rectifier bridge incorrectly. Once that was sorted the amplifier came to life. For a relatively budget build the sound is actually way better than expected and I can recommend these kits for anyone interested in building a power amp.
