Hi
Not sure if this has been covered before?
What is your experience with the sound quality of new releases on vinyl. I am interested as I reckon that most of these albums are recorded digitally in the first place. I have a few LP's which were originally recorded digitally where I happen to also have a CD version. I also have a few CD's and the same LP where the album was recorded in the analogue domain.
The latter is where the LP always sounds better than the CD version. Take any Blue Note album on vinyl especially the Analogue Productions reissues compared to the RVG CD and the sound from the LP is superb i wish that modern day recording engineers would listen to the sound of these 60's recording's - but i digress
But where the albums are recorded digitally then the differences in my opinion are not always in LPs favour. EG my sister has a basic turntable set up (on my recommendation) and after doing some 2 nd hand LP shopping I wanted to show her the differences and we compared the CD version of the Enya debut album to the recently acquired LP. We did the AB comparison on my rig and to my dismay the CD version was clearly superior. Admittedly this was recorded in the early days of digital whereas latter day recordings can be recorded at a higher resolution. I can only assume that it is the limitation of CD that makes the LP win - has anyone a compared high resolution ( ie non red book) versions to LP?
