Guys I hope this can help someone out there, for a couple of weeks now I have been struggling to get my receiver to get any other sound setting besides Multi-Channel Stereo or PCM from my PS3 when watching Blu-Ray's or DVDs recorded in DTS and Dolby True Surround. This article below guided me to the correct setting on the PS3, in short you have two options in the BD/DVD Audio Output Format(HDMI) of your PS3 namely "Linear PCM" and "Bitstream".

If you choose the default option of Linear PCM the sound output will still be a lossless mix of the audio although your Receiver will display something like ?Multi-CH? or ?PCM? - the bad thing about that is the sound gets evenly distributed to all the speakers which is not ideal.

If you switch over to Bitstream your Receiver will give you options like ?Dolby TrueHD? or ?DTS-HD MA? and DTS etc, only then will you really experience the great sound from your DVD or Blu Ray.. Note that on the Older fat PS3 and newer PS3 models results may vary.
