Good day everybody,
My name is Patrick and I am a retired engineer. The other day I was at my sisters house who is busy moving overseas and she showed me a tea chest which she tells me she was part of my mothers estate from about 20 years ago and she has never opened. Interestingly it was dated 1985 and marked HiFi set. She said that if I wanted it I should take it otherwise it is going to the dump. So I arranged to have this rather heavy chest moved over to my house. Upon opening it up I found the following items inside.
2 X Goodmans bookshelf speakers with the specification sheets in a plastic sleeve. This tells me that they are made from solid Teak or Walnut - I am not sure which but they are really heavy. They are called Mezzo ll
2 x Quad ll valve power amplifiers.
1 x Quad 22 stereo pre amp controller. Also with the original manual for the ll and 22 giving operating instructions and schematic diagrams and parts list.
1 x Quad FM tuner.
1 x Technics very heavy direct drive fully automatic turntable Model No. SL-1600 mk2
1 x small aluminium case with 2 cartridges and stylus in it.
All of this equipment was well packed and preserved and is in very nice clean condition. The turntable in particular looks almost new.
I have a box containing 135 old LP records in it which I can add to this system which contains records from the 60's 70's and 80's
I can remember this equipment from when I was young and from memory the amplifiers were purchase in the early 60's along with the speakers and the turntable came in the early 80's. My father passed away shortly after purchasing the turntable and my mother moved house in 1985 so this equipment has been in storage ever since. My Father was a sound fanatic in his day and only bought the best equipment.
My question is are there people out there that would like to acquire this equipment.
I am unable to put this equipment up for sale on this site as apparently I have to make 50 posts first and as I am not an audio fundi that is not going to happen in my lifetime. Also I have no idea what the value of this system would be so I have no idea what to ask for it.
If any of you expert audio guru's on this site could give me some useful information on this equipment and point me in the right direction here I would be most grateful as that would then guide me on what to do with this system.
Thank you to everybody who reads this post and who can help me.
Best regards
Patrick
