This is an "Acoustic Revive". Said to be an AC stabliser, it cleans up the foreground. My Canadian friend likes these gadgets, he has more than 30. All sitting in a drawer

Alas or unfortunately, there was no foreground to clean, so all it did was get in the way

It cost C$450 (about R8000)
