This relates to a product recall for certain Onkyo AV's including my 609 which displays the symptoms mentioned-pic no sound. Onkyo offers to fix free of charge, I just have to pay for shipping. I took the receiver to the local store I bought it from and they sent it to the authorised local repairer. Quote R5000! to repair.
I reckon with shipping to Onkyo would still be cheaper than the local repair quote.
So my questions are:
Do local suppliers not know of the recall?
Which Onkyo branch in the world do I send the receiver to if I do not want to be ripped off locally?
