Onkyo - PS3 sound problem...

Hi
I have connected my PS3 through my Onkyo NR 609 amp but the sound cuts out every few seconds when watching shows. When I connect the PS3 directly to the tv then there is no issues.

There are no speakers connected to the AV receiver at the moment so all sounds is being played through the tv.

Any suggestions for fixing the problem...?
