I am brand new to the entire AV/home theatre etc. environment? I am looking for a sound system, mainly to watch movies/DSTV and occasionally music. I have now stated to look at a few systems and the longer I look the more questions AND options arise!
Some of the questions that came up:
1. What is the BIG difference between a Sony system you buy from Makro/Game for approximately R5k and something like the Onkyo (HT-S3305) component system?
2. How big a difference is there between the Onkyo (HT-S3305) system and then stepping up to say the Onkyo TX-SR508 with Jamo (S506) speakers?
3. What is the main difference between the Onkyo TX-SR508 and 608?
4. What would you recommend between the Onkyo TX-SR508 and the Yamaha RX-V765 (Does this onkyo and Yamaha compete?)
5. What would you recommend between the Onkyo TX-SR608 and the Yamaha RX-V467 (Does this onkyo and Yamaha compete?)
6. What other combination would you advise if I had a budget of roughly R10k?
