For many years I have been pretty happy with my current AV system, but in the not too distant future we will be moving to a smaller house so I am seriously considering getting something much smaller and neater. All we need to have is something that will give us some decent sound from the TV/DSTV and the occasional DVD.
A friend suggested a soundbar but to be honest I know absolutely nothing about soundbars, but a quick search revealed everything from el cheapo to bloody expensive.
Being a new pensioner, I do not want to put too much into new sound but somebody recamended a Sonos or B&W with the later being around R33k - ouch.
So my question is - Are Soundbars a decent alternative for some decent sound (not phantom), and will i be able to get some decent money from my old system to finance something newer, smaller and neater?
Current system:
Yamaha DSP-A5 amp (not expecting much for this Amp, it was a impulse purcahse  ;D)
B&W DM 603 Main Speakers
B&W matching centre speaker
Jamo Cornet 70ii Speakers
Jamo Centre 100 Speaker
Jamo Surround 200 Speakers
Paradigm OM-100 powered sub woofer

Thanks guys.
