I'm thinking of moving to a headphone setup. Currently most of my music is on a media player and CDs. I run the media player through to a DAC, and Audiolab 8200, which is a good CDP and DAC in one, also can function as a preamp. I then run music out of the Audiolab via RCAs to my receiver or integrated amp.
Is a headphone setup better? In which ways? Sonically? Convenience wise? Budget wise?
What do I need to get in place to get a good rig set up? I.e. which components. Budget for everything will be about R5000-8000 max, in addition to the media player and DAC I already have. I'm not a fan of in-ear phones. I want something that is convenient
