I have a hidden leak somewhere from my toilet causing damp to the wall in the unit downstairs.
In my opinion it is a slow constant trickle leak, as slight damp has built up slowly over an extended period of time - and continues, even when away on travel.
It could be a simple solution such as a faulty filler valve, as this has played up before and was 'fixed' by a friend using non-original parts.
What I'm not too sure about is how the filler valve would be able to 'leak' externally, as it is located inside the cistern , together with the old fashioned ball valve in a close coupled system.
The leakage appears to be clean water, so I am presuming it is coming from the cistern, before it reaching the bowl/toilet pot.
The puzzling thing is that there are no drips/moisture externally from the inlet coupling pipe, cistern or bowl, whatsover.
Is it viable to replace the filler valve or the entire cistern? Ideally I'd like to spare the expense of installing a new unit and associated plumbing/new piping costs.
I Would greatly appreciate some knowledgable advice here, from folk in the know please. >>
