PS3 laser problem (I think) anyone do repairs?

Hi,

I have a PS3 slim which has t seen that much use but I think the laser is stuffed. Won't recognise any disk I put into it (dvd, game, or blu Ray). Spoke to the repair agents who don't actually repair units, they replace with a refurb unit for R1800.

Anyone have this issue resolved elsewhere or know a repair centre near Sandton or the Eastrand  that I can't try?
