I've been meaning to ask this question since walking into a Musica 3 weeks ago. First a short history of my music acquisitions. I consider myself unique in that I'm probably one of the last adopters of the CD. I really held on to buying tapes until they were taken off the shelves. My first CD was purchased in 1997 and I was over 20 and up until then I naively thought that tapes will "always be there".
FF a few years and LP's disappeared. At this point I must add that I have not and probably never will own a turntable.
Now LPs have made a comeback and looks that they are here to stay and that my medium of choice (CD's) is under threat.
What astounds me is the price of the records - a single one can be in excess of R200 - up to R400 !
Are records all that good to justify these prices and why are records so expensive compared to CD's ?
Converting a CD collection to records can be fortune !
