My system comprises a Sony SCD-XA3000ES, Denon DVD Player, Rotel RSX-1055, PS audio GCC250 Stereo amp with Theatre Bypass function, Kef Q7 fronts,

Kef iQ2c and Q Acoustics 1010 as rears.  (P.S. I bought the PS Audio amp in the classifieds for a third of its retail price and its 18 m old, and an absolute jewel)

Stereo still remains my passion, therefore the discrepancy in components.  I would like to upgrade my speakers, since the Kef?s doesn?t do the PS Audio justice.  I?ve been reading up a lot and the following speakers have caught my eye:

Yamaha Soavo:  EISA award winners and a favourite of my local dealer.  I?ve read a lot of varying reviews about this speaker, but most negative critique seems to come from UK critics, which in my opinion  are very biased.  These tend to be similar, physically to my Kef?s.

Linn Majik 140:  These are newly released and I still haven?t found reviews, but should they be anything like the 242?s, they should be good.  (Also a floorstander)

Dali Mentor 2:  great reviews!!

But the actual question:  Mark & Daniel Maximus Rubies:  They have magnificent reviews (but cost ? of the Linn?s price)!  How good are they?  Will I be missing floorstanders if I buy these?  Will I be able to use them in a 5 x 5 m room?

I?m sure the PS Audio will do them justice, since it delivers 250 w into 8ohm and 500 w into 4ohm.

I think this is more a question of will I be able to enjoy a standmount, if  I?ve owned floorstanders.  And secondly will the Mark & Daniel compete with speakers costing twice as much?

I know this is a difficult question, with so many variables that it will be difficult to answer.  I also know that you will probably advise me to go audition all of them, and let my ears decide; but still I would like to have a gut feel answer!!

Thanks again,

Danie
