Remote Repair: Buttons not making contact

Hello Everybody, I previously followed a thread about repairing the buttons on a remote so they switch when pressed. I bought the expensive graphite spay from Communica and also tried the method of re-embedding graphite on the back of the buttons. Needless to say I was not successful. Has another option possibly become available (short of buying a new remote)?
