I am posting this question for a friend (the closest I get to a Mac is my iPod or MickyD's)...
What is the best program to use for ripping and organising a 500 CD collection to hard drive on a Mac (lossless).
iTunes is turning out to be frustrating with so-so results (white noise in quiet sections of music). Organising the collection with iTunes is also turning out to be less than optimal (there must be a happy medium between a program that does most of the thinking for you and one where you have to get your hands dirty in endless configuration dialogue boxes).
My buddy wants the music to be portable between devises (computer playback and possible digital devise payback in the future). So what is the best format to use?
I realise this subject has probably been covered extensively but if you can give some url pointers (links) that would be nice.
