I have had a request to prepare a kit based on the Rogers Cadet III.
We do not need the phono preamp section or the tone and balance controls, so I am looking into the preamp section of the amplifier. The power amplifier is well documented. Here is a schematic:
The preamp is more convoluted to read:
So here is my question: does the preamp have any gain if the radio channel is selected (as per drawing above) and can I dump the whole preamp?
I take my clue from the fact that the Volume control is right in front of the power amplifier. The tone controls are baxandahl treble and bass with a triode in front, and a recovery triode after. A bit like this:
