Hi all
I have a Rotel RDD 980 CD Transport. The plastic gear that controls opening and closing the tray has broken. Apparently this is a common problem.
I have read this link that explains how to fix it -
http://www.tamurajones.net/PhilipsCDM9Fix.xhtml
I have also read the following topic that appeared in this forum in 2012 -
http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php?topic=20519.0
I am trying to follow the instructions but I am stuck, and I don't want to risk causing damage, so I have come here for some advice.
I have removed eight screws holding the bottom panel in place. I cannot actually remove the panel, because something seems to be holding it in the centre of the panel. If I shine a torch inside I can see some kind of shaft that is attached to the panel, but there is no obvious way of releasing it.
It is possible that it will detach by itself if I just rock it backwards and forwards, but I have tried that (gingerly) with no success so far.
Can anyone advise on the best way to proceed.
Many thanks
