Somewhere at some time my Axe grew legs & walked out of the garden shed. I have a strong suspicion it went to a family member who is renown for never returning things, or for returning them in a broken state, but she swears blind it was not her.

Yesterday I sent my son to Builders Warehouse to purchase an axe - wife has me toiling in the garden cutting doen trees & the chainsaw has also mysteriously vanished....... although, I fear that not be the same family member, but may be the boys re-purposing the motor into the go-kart they built some time ago.....

Son returns with axe, which even has a removable rubber safety shield over the edge to prevent injury, which I thought was rather clever. Until I felt the edge.

What edge? The "blade" is 2mm wide at the thinnest point. Bloody stupid axe cannot cut it's own handle, let alone a tree or heaven forbid a piece of paper! I wouldn't even use it to split wood with that thick an edge, it would knock the shyte out of your hands!

I left it & went to watch SBK at the Baron. Priorities and such.

Took it back to Builders this morning. They do not have a single sharp axe in the store. "It's too dangerous Sir" I am told. WTAF? Managed to persuade them to sell me a file & 2 large whetstones at 50% discount so I could sharpen it myself. (Damned if I'm going to use my knife whetstone set).

Guess I'll be busy for the next evening or two.
