Hey Guys
Just some advise please. I have an old Yamaha A-420 that has been in continuos service since purchase around the mid-80's. Never had any issues with it except in the last year or so where the volume pot has become 'scratchy'. Now I know this is a common problem as the pot gets old but there are couple of things I would like some advise on.
Firstly, is it good enough to just clean the pot with some contact cleaner? Or is it worth replacing the item?
Secondly, for an amp that has been in service for so long - is it worth having it services and looked over by someone who knows the item? And if so can anybody recommend someone in the Joburg area?
Its quite a sweet sounding amp with a low power output though. Think its 50wpc. Was thinking of changing roles for it and either using it as a headphone amp or in an office system and running a small dac into it. At the moment its used by by folks for a bit of background music around the kitchen/dining room.
Thanks for the help?????..
