Last week out of the blue, the security gate lock decides to pack up after around 3-4 years service.
Using all 3 keys, including the original (from both sides) the locking mechanism does not want to turn beyond 45 degrees both in left and right directions. (in other words, the lock simply gets stuck and jams at the 45 degree position when turning key both clockwise and anti-clockwise)
Have tried gently dusting the lock with graphite powder internally, though this has made no effect.
Any suggestions, - the local locksmith from Masterkeys has quoted R500 to come out, open gate & replace the locking mechanism.
