According to what I read in Die Burger (12/07) these devises are going to upset our apple cart regarding grid-tied and battery stand-by only systems. During the "off" period, current draw will be limted to 10A, but as I understand it, during "open" periods this will not apply. Eskom's plan with this is to abolish load shedding, which upsets my plans to install a stand-by system, for it seems it simply will not be compatible with the smart meter system. I am however rather sceptical of Eskom's promise to have this system implemented and load shedding phased out. Any comments?
