So a Samsung HDD let me down after all.

After hearing both horror stories and good experiences, I fell victim to the former. Samsung 1TB internal SATA HDD in my rather new i5 PC died last week. The electronics are OK and the mechanicals too, but it seems to have some bad areas / disk surface damage / bad clusters. Yes, at least I have backups, but still a huge schlep. I am not impressed. Drive has only been in use for about four months.

The PC will now have a new Seagate 2TB 5900 rpm Green drive, same as in my Microserver.
