Sony Plasma TV - best way to make/source a stand?

I recently got a SONY FWD-50PX2 plasma TV.

Only problem is it weighs a ton and has no stand.

I can't wall mount it because I live in a very old house and the walls are extremely soft.  :wallbreak:

I do have access to welding equipment, so a steel stand is an option, but I'd much prefer something less time consuming.

Any ideas?
