This is uncanny. I was just about to write about MY horrible expereince at SG Centurion today, when guess what, there's another post about the same store and same terrible service.

I hope that the owner of the Sounds Great chain is reading this forum.

Here goes my story:

Went in to look at mini hifi's and saw a TEAC that I wanted to audition. The display unit was broken and the "assisiting" (must be the same dude that served the other forumite) couldn't figure it out.
By now I was annoyed.

We moved ot the Yamaha MCR 040. I asked for the remote to make sure the tones were flat, to which I was rudly informed that they don't remove it from the boxes. Then this young twerp commented that there was something wrong with my CD (it was a soft classical track), to which I replied (annoyance showing - seeing Red by this time) that it was fine.

Back to the TEAC - which I really wanted to listen. Asked the guy to get a new one out, and to my amazment was told that they WILL NOT open another one.

By this logic, they prefer to keep a broken one on display. How do they think that they will sell sound equipment, if one cannot audition the sound.

Eventually I did the unthinkable and went to Hi FI Corp in Centurion Centre, where that guy went to great lenghts to get the remote out of it's packaging and let me have a free play with a Pioneer of interest.

If Sounds Great is losing out to Hi Fi Corp on service, they are on a short trip to nowhere.
