I believe it to be largely non sense. Maybe a high mass driver could do with a few minutes to loosen up the suspension, but a hundred plus hours run in, I believe is non sense.
If a dealer tells me the speakers I am about to purchase need 100 hours of break in before any critical listening is done, I think that he wants me to get used to how they sound, adapt to that sound so I will not return them. The enclosure creates most of the stiffness anyway.
What are your views?
