I got a Squeezebox Duet off the forum a few months back, really for the simple reason that I needed a network audio player for my patio area, worked well, didn't blow my hair back but did the job, in its defence its on a relatively simple setup with mediocre speakers.

I then thought I'd do the same for my lounge so that I could feed my DAC, at the time all I could get was the touch it was a fair price so I took the plunge, didn't think too much of it at the time but then I got to listening to it a bit through my DAC (Maverick Audio D2) using the optical and coaxial inputs and I was pretty darn surprised by just how good it sounded, since the DAC is doing the processing I didn't think the source would play a big role but it actually did. I've read on the forum that the Maverick audio optical input is crap but truth be told on the D2 it sounds awesome, I read up on the internet and they recon the Touch has a very good optical out so I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.

I loaded the "Enhanced Digital Output" 3rd party mod on the touch today because it then handles 192KHz playback via S/Pdif and USB. I'm not sure if its my leather ears playing games with me but I'm really impressed, I was considering until a few days ago to sell the touch and get another 2 duets but now I recon I'll never part with the touch and may even upgrade the duet to the touch.

I was wondering what other forumites experience was with the unit and if its just the placebo effect with me? if it is, hats off to the placebo effect :D
