I apologise for the following personal post. It should perhaps have been under 'Open Forum', but the readership here is more concerned with my announcement that those frequenting that section.

It has become clear from the spate of dissentive comments recently in the vinyl section (now in "Decontamination"), but also elsewhere for some time, that it seems to be the sport of some to react to my frequent attempts to be professional and also to promote basic science in the past with more disdain than respect/knowledge. I have decided that there is no valid reason that I should stand for that sort of thing any longer; if some deem it over-sensitivity, so be it.

Since it is rapidly becoming unenjoyable to take part on this Forum, I have decided to stand down from technical comment in threads except in rare cases, however well-founded and well-intended I have tried to be. I am not closing my account just yet, and will continue to perform my duties as Moderator on the 'Classifieds" section to the best of my ability and as long as the Admins deem it necessary.

Members are welcome to PM me regarding advice as is increasingly happening; I will endeavour to reply conscienciously. (Occasionally it may take a day or three; one is sometimes busy.)

Some members will undoubtedly be happy to read this, others relieved. I am under no misconception that my absence will be long mourned; so be it. I am shifting my attention to forums such as diyAudio, Audioholics and Audiokarma.

I thank those who were forthcoming with support and compliments. My silence will be little loss of expertise as I have always maintained that there are others equally capable of advising and more acceptable, if not so 'vocal' as I was.
