Streaming ripped dvd's via Apple TV

Good day,

I want to rip my cd collection and save it to a network device such as a NAS drive. Now what will be the best software/hardware to use?
The first price would be for a platform that will allow me to play back the videos etc via apple tv or any smart tv.

The next quiestion what will be the best format to rip these dvd's in?

I will realy apreciate help as sound and video quality is still very important as far as possible/practical
